Which is better, Focuh or Todoist?
Pick Todoist if you need cross-platform capture, labels, filters, and team sharing everywhere. Pick Focuh if you are on Mac and web, want Today beside Google Calendar, Loops for standing tasks, and system-wide blocking during focus. Todoist is paid for full features; Focuh is free during early beta.
What Todoist is for
Todoist is the cross-platform task manager from Doist. Projects, sections, sub-tasks, labels, priorities, and custom filters can hold work and life in one place. Today, Upcoming, and filter views show what matters now. The free Beginner plan covers basics with limits on projects and filters; Pro adds calendar layout, task duration, deadlines, full activity history, and AI assists for $7/month or $60/year ($5/month billed yearly), as of October 2026. Apps run on Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android, web, and wearables, with 90+ integrations to turn email, calendar, and other tools into tasks.
If your bottleneck is capturing and organizing tasks everywhere you work, Todoist is built for that.
What Focuh is for
Focuh is the ADHD todo list I built for myself, on Mac and web. Today sits next to Google Calendar, so the plan and the day share one screen. Week is the week as columns. Loops are standing to-dos with no date. You pull a copy onto today and the loop stays. Goals are the one win for the horizon. A focus timer tracks sessions on the list.
On Mac, website and app blocking is system-wide, so it still holds when I leave the browser.
Free. Early beta. No subscription. Mac and web. No mobile app.
Honest differences
Todoist wins on maturity, platforms, and organization depth. Millions of people use it. Projects nest, labels cross-cut, and filters can express almost any view. It syncs on phone, tablet, and watch. Focuh has none of that query language, no Android or iPhone app, and a much smaller feature surface.
Todoist wins on integrations too. Gmail, Slack, and dozens of other tools feed tasks in. Focuh connects to Google Calendar for display and sync, not as a universal inbox for every app you use.
Focuh wins if execution on the Mac is where your day leaks. Todoist can show a calendar layout on Pro and integrates with Google Calendar, but Focuh puts the full Google Calendar day next to Today, so you can see where the time actually is while you pick tasks. Todoist repeats tasks on a schedule; loops wait until you pull them, so a skipped day does not become a pile of overdue repeats. Todoist has no built-in focus timer and no blocker; you can pair it with another app, but that is another subscription and another context switch. Focuh keeps the timer on the list and blocks websites and apps across the whole Mac while you work.
Price: Focuh is free. Early beta. No subscription. Todoist Beginner is free with caps; Pro is $7/month or $60/year, as of October 2026. That is not a dig. It is fair pricing for a finished product with ongoing sync and apps on every platform.

Who should pick which
Pick Todoist if you want the task manager that works on every device, you live in projects and filters, and you need tasks to arrive from the apps you already use.
Pick Focuh if the list was never the problem and the day is: you need Today next to GCal, loops that stay out of the way until you pull them, a focus timer on the same list, and the Mac blocker to hold.
They can coexist, Todoist as the capture inbox and Focuh as the day on the Mac. If you only pick one, pick the bottleneck you actually have.
Try Focuh in the browser at www.focuh.com/today, or download it for Mac to get the system-wide blocker.
